Emotional Or Physical Infidelity – Which Is More Painful?

Infidelity is an act of cheating one’s partner and having an physical or emotional relationship with someone else. A person involved in infidelity can get involved with someone else in terms of physical intimacy or emotional attachment, thereby breaking the boundaries of an existing relationship and the trust of the opposite partner. Infidelity is a widespread problem all over the world and there are several factors which lead to this. These factors can differ from culture to culture or can depend on the type of relationship among two people. No matter what, the outcome or the resultant pain is always the same everywhere. Infidelity can be classified into two categories namely emotional infidelity and physical infidelity. So, which is more painful? Which one causes more trouble? Let us find out the same in the following section of the article.

Physical infidelity – crossing the limitations:

In this variant one person cheats the other by getting involved into an explicit sexual relationship or physical intimacy. Let us start with a couple of questions:

– Will you accept your husband/wife or boyfriend/girlfriend having a sexual relation with someone else?

– Can you forget that your partner actually had a physical relation with someone else despite being in relationship with you?

The answer to both the questions is “NO”! Once you come to know about such physical intimacy of your partner with someone else, you will be shattered and day after day after day, you will never forget it and your relationship with your partner will never be the same again. This is extremely painful and when the pain reaches to its extreme, what you opt for is a divorce in case you are married or you simply break off with your partner in case you are not married. Thus, your partner’s infidelity will hammer the relationship into pieces.

Emotional infidelity – trauma translated to pain:

In this variant a person gets emotionally attached to someone else with getting into physical intimacy. The person shares fantasies, secrets and emotions with someone else but refrains himself/herself from getting into sexual relationship with some other person apart from his or her partner. Does that mean that the person will not get indulged into a physical intimacy with the other person and cheat on his or her partner? Does that mean he or she is actually not breaking the boundaries of his or her current relationship with the existing partner? Does that mean he or she is completely loyal to his or her partner? The answer to all these questions is “NO”. With the act of emotional infidelity, the person violates the boundaries of the existing relationship and the partner of that person faces an emotional trauma.

The person was supposed to share all his or her emotions and secrets with the partner and not someone else. The partner cannot even rule out the possibility of the person getting involved in the sexual relation with that other person! All these factors causes emotional pain which can be excruciating and continue for long. It is therefore, difficult to say whether physical infidelity is more painful or emotional infidelity. The bottom line is that, both are the methods of cheating and both are painful!

The Emotional Connection and More Behind Disease

April 5th, 2012 by Trauma_Guide | No Comments | Filed in Emotional Trauma

Article by Tremayne Reiss

An alternative view

Meta-Medicine is a scientific system which does not explore or incorporate the more sublime aspects of the human experience. Given the long history of mans recognition of spirit and order within the cosmos this article introduces the reader to some of these old ideas as the spiritual dimension is often an intrinsic part of any healing process.

What is a Biological Law?

A biological law is a rule which has no exceptions hence the word law. The word biological denotes that the rule refers to biological life forms. The discovery of Natural Biological laws governing health are a major breakthrough and a complete departure from the accepted wisdom in scholastic medicine. Meta-physics was kept out of the discovery so as not to confuse the situation.

Metaphysics

Is the branch of philosophy investigating principles of reality transcending those of any particular science, traditionally, cosmology and ontology. It is concerned with explaining the ultimate nature of being and the world.

Spirituality

An inner sense of something greater than oneself. Recognition of a meaning to existence that transcends one’s immediate circumstances. There is a distinction to be made between spirituality and religion. Often large groups of people in religion follow something outside of themselves, a guru, messiah etc. One could say that spirituality is devotion to the life process and being attentive.

Conditioning.

The way that our experience shapes our behaviour.

What is generally acknowledged is that peoples conditioning determine how they react to life’s situations. Conditioning determines what perspective we take on a life trauma. A woman being left by her husband may see this as a loss, she may devalue herself or be angry. There are a multitude of possible responses.

Stanislav Grof ( 1931 – )

A pioneering psychoanalyst who has made an outstanding contribution to expanding the cartography of the human psyche.

His model was developed from clinical experience. Able to study Freud/Jung and co. contribution he was well positioned to shed invaluable insights on the human psyche.

Life leaves a mark on everyone. He confirmed the importance of the birth trauma on the subsequent development of a human being but also realized that inutero and what he labeled transpersonal (beyond the personal biographic) were all sculpting the character. On the face of it Mother Nature has developed survival programs, pure and simple. I believe there are nuances to the five biological laws discovered by Dr.Hamer.

Meta-physical aspects of the human experience confirmed by clinical experience!

Stanislav Grof found that some patients regressed and relived past lives where they recognized characters in their present life perpetrating despicable acts on themselves in these past lives.

On realizing this, if the patient was able to forgive the act from the heart there would be an immediate improvement in their relationship in the present life. It had been noted that these family members had been squabbling since the beginning. The transformation would be stunning.

The term past life has so many connotations for people that a different term was used. The patient would just see it as a memory vividly depicting something from a time gone by so the term past life is as good as any. People who encounter death are often changed.

The experience opens up areas of spiritual experiences that appear to be an intrinsic part of the human personality and are independent of the individuals cultural and religious background and programming.

Consciousness.

“What is consciousness” is the unsolved mystery of our time. A common misconception is that the brain generates consciousness. It seems more likely that we are the product of consciousness and that it imbues everything. Our biological system allows us to express a certain frequency of consciousness.

As we evolve new tools will become available allowing us to perceive new frequencies of the electro-magnetic spectrum. With these new perceptions come new ideas about life. There was a time when we had no awareness of x-rays but that’s not to say they don’t exist.

The quintessence of Dr.Hamers discovery is that dis-ease is a purposeful response to environmental stimulus. This was not a conscious process by humans. These programs developed before we had mastered language and tools. This intelligence represents just the tip of the iceberg.

Divination (from Latin Divinare “to be inspired by God.”)

Divination has been around for millennia and is talked of in many cultures. Most people have heard of the oracle of Delphi. The I Ching is famous.

They are all attempts to gain information from the super consciousness which is everywhere. Advanced monks need no medium as they channel directly. In fact the I Ching was developed by monks to help lay people develop the connection. In the modern day an advanced form of kinesiology called Cyberkinetics allows one to tap into the omniscient being in all of us.

Stanislav Grofs contribution to understanding the cartography of the human psyche is outstanding. When there is unresolved trauma festering in the unconscious these leads to tension and effects behavior. The person is considered highly strung.

These people are more susceptible to expressing pathology as there system cannot tolerate the extra stress that a significant emotional trauma brings.

Conclusion

Dr Hamer had to steer away from meta-physics as it was difficult enough for him to convince the establishment that emotions were important. He didn’t want to distract from the essence of what he was saying. Science is about measurement. Perception is a tool that we ignore to our own detriment.

Anaphylaxis – The Emotional Earthquake

April 2nd, 2012 by Trauma_Guide | No Comments | Filed in Emotional Trauma

Article by David Glaser

Many individuals every year dread the arrival of the insect stinging season because they are dangerously allergic to insect sting venom.

Whilst the visible physical anaphylactic journey can be very different for different people, patients nearly always suffer from a very similar emotional trauma. Anaphylactic shock is a horrible and terrifying condition for patients and their families. The psychological trauma is considerable and is an effect that many doctors and professionals seem to simply ignore once the physical shock has been treated.

For those individuals who are seriously allergic to insect stings – and by that we mean those who have systemic reactions to insect stings which are life threatening – ordinary day-to-day living suddenly takes on a very different perspective. The emotional impact of living with anaphylaxis to insect stings is rarely considered by the medical profession and whilst some do acknowledge the loss of quality of life, many just consider it an inconvenience which can be lived with by the patient.

In my experience of running an insect sting support website offering support to victims of insect sting allergy, the great majority of patients feel that the emotional trauma has a greater impact on their lives than doctors could ever imagine. In some ways the long term emotional shock is worse that then short lived anaphylaxis itself.

It is really tough to have to limit activities with the constant threat of being stung and the awful after-effects. There are many dilemmas that the patient has to face on a daily basis – for example is it worth risking being stung by going out into the garden, posting a letter, or watching the children play sport? It may seem strange, but for those who have suffered the terrifying effects of anaphylactic shock, the desire to avoid any future recurrence dominates life in the summer months.

It is for this reason that despite the very modest risks associated with venom immunotherapy that many doctors are now realizing that simply dispensing an Epipen to the patient is not enough and that venom immunotherapy offers a genuine alternative that can radically improve quality of life. I have corresponded with several hundred patients since our website started in 2002, and without exception no patient regrets entering into venom immunotherapy. This treatment offers them a really effective way of controlling their allergy by reducing the allergic response.

In addition to venom immunotherapy, it is strongly recommended that patients who feel emotionally scarred by the trauma of anaphylaxis should talk over their feelings with fellow patients, their doctors, or professional counselors.

David Glaser is the webmaster of the support group Insect Stings which offers resources and support to victims of insect stings and bites.
